The Detachable Plow Share Manufacturing Company was formed by Peter A. Nordquist in Ogden, Utah in 1917 to manufacture plows to be used to cultivate land for farming. Nordquist patented his unique plow (Patent #US1401432A, granted December 27, 1921) as a “Detachable Plow Share Edge,” that is described in his patent: “…. the object is to provide a detachable V-shaped plow share edge with a V-shaped groove in its base, thereby providing means whereby when an edge becomes dull or worn, the edge may be easily and quickly removed from the low share edge, so that a new edge may be forced into frictional engagement with the plow share edge.”
