    Description

This is a charmer with good age.It has a design of rocks, sea and spray with gold plover. The sea and spray are represented in silver which is primarily incised into the body, the spray is small raised silver dots.As this has quite some age the silver is almost black. The rocks are incredibly  detailed almost to the point of seeming to be carved. The gold plover are accentuated by punch marks to the body. There is absolutely no damage to either the piece or stand but one side  of the vase has slight rubbing to the patina just wear really  very minor as can be seen in the photos. This is an unusual shape and bears a good incised signature on the base. ossibly Yoshihisa. I date this to the earlier part of the Meiji as the simplicity of this piece in many respects seems to predate the incredibly ornate almost overdone pieces. This vase has a sensitivity which is lacking in the later pieces with exceptions of course..The stand is original and  typical style. The vase stands just under 4 in (10 cm) high excluding the stand.Unlike many later bronzes much of the detail is in the bronze itself rather than the gold and silver work
